Biography
Mr. Mohney has been engaged in the general practice of law in DuBois, Pennsylvania since 1993. After working in a law firm in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania after his graduation from the Dickinson School of Law in 1991, he seized an opportunity to return to his hometown. After working for a long-established law firm in DuBois for ten years, during which time he was a part-time Assistant District Attorney for Clearfield County, he opened his own law office in 2003. During his time as a part-time prosecutor, Mr. Mohney worked closely with law enforcement in all stages of criminal prosecutions. This experience as a prosecutor has assisted him in providing legal advice and counsel to persons who are not only being investigated, but have been formally charged, for having allegedly committed criminal acts. Mr. Mohney has the unique experience of having successfully prosecuted cases to juries and successfully defended clients at trials- both jury and non-jury. He has successfully argued criminal cases in front of the Superior Courts of Pennsylvania and the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. Mr. Mohney also is a past Hearing Committee Member of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
While the emphasis of his practice is representing people charged with crimes, Mr. Mohney also welcomes the opportunity to represent people who have been injured in accidents. For the first portion of his legal career, Mr. Mohney was primarily counsel hired by insurance companies to represent persons alleged to have been the cause of accidents in which another person was injured. He now focuses his personal injury practice on representing persons injured. He has handled well into the hundreds of real estate transactions, representing both sellers and buyers. Mr. Mohney routinely assists clients assemble their estate planning documents, and represents person representatives in fulfilling their duties to administer estates. Matters of starting a business and general civil litigation round out his practice. Mr. Mohney prides himself on striving to work closely with each client to deliver timely, professional, ethical and personalized legal advice and services. He is Peer Review Rated as AV Preeminent for the highest level of professional excellence by Martindale-Hubbell.
When he is not working, Mr. Mohney is an avid cyclist and mountain biker, as well as an alpine skier. He also enjoys fly fishing, reading and cooking.
